How do I clean the cartridge?

Turn off the pump, release the air bleed to relieve pressure, and remove the lid with the hand lock ring. Remove the cartridge and rinse between the pleats with a garden hose. For oils, calcium, or stubborn debris, soak the element overnight in a suitable cartridge cleaning solution before rinsing.

Pro Tip: Save time and water with the Water-Wand Pro Cartridge Cleaner (CWL056). Its fan spray jets flush dirt and debris from between the pleats quickly and evenly.

How do I know when to clean the cartridge?

Check the pressure gauge. When it rises about 50 kPa above the clean reading (noted after installation or cleaning), it’s time to hose down the cartridge element.

How often should I clean the cartridge?

It depends on bather load and debris. Many pools need cleaning every few weeks in summer, less often in winter. Always clean if the pressure gauge shows +50 kPa or at least once a year to maintain warranty coverage.

Does it need backwashing like a sand filter?

No. Cartridge filters are backwash-free, saving water and simplifying care. Cleaning is done by removing and hosing the cartridge.

What is the maximum pressure and temperature rating?

The ER Series operates safely up to 250 kPa and 50 °C.

How do I start up the filter for the first time?

Open any valves, ensure plumbing is correct, loosen the air bleed, and prime the pump. Once water flows steadily and air is expelled, tighten the bleed and note the clean pressure reading on the gauge.

What pools is this filter suitable for?

The CrystalClear ER Series suits in-ground and above-ground pools with fresh, salt, or mineral water. Four models cover different pool sizes up to ~180,000 L turnover in 6 hours.
