Hayward Premium Authorized Hayward Retailer

"Endless Traction for a Thorough Clean. Unstoppable coverage from floor to wall."

The Hayward TracVac is an in-ground, suction cleaner designed for maximum clean with minimal effort. Patented adjustable skirts on the cleaner enable the machine to retain optimal suction and overcome obstacles more effectively than conventional cleaners. This cleaner is small but mighty. Its modest size allows the TracVac to navigate any pool surface with speed and agility and lightweight construction makes it easy to handle.

Benefits:

  • Hollow Turbine. This cleaner utilizes a hollow turbine which enables flow to bypass the blades in the event of large debris blockage. This ensures the pool system is always provided flow.
  • Steering System and Hose Swivel. The tracked suction cleaner has an internal programmed steering system, allowing it to turn and then move into another direction. This steering system has 6 different programmed turns settings at various degrees that allow the cleaner to fully navigate the entire pool. The external hose swivel allows the cleaner to turn freely without interference from the hose due to debris buildup as well as unwanted hose coiling.
  • Robust Tracks. The TracVac’s patented track system and unique underbody ensures that the cleaner can easily negotiate main drains, uneven surfaces, strange shapes and steep corners on both the deep and shallow ends of the pool. This makes the Cleaner ideal for all pool surfaces and shapes.
  • Wall Climbing. The TracVac will only climb walls on pools with sufficient floor to wall radius. The cleaner has patented adjustable skirts that allow the cleaner to maintain optimal suction under the machine even when it encounters obstacles. When the cleaner encounters an obstacle, one or more of the skirts will lift up (adjust) over the obstacle while maintaining suction under the cleaner.

Features:

  • Inground Pool Cleaner - TracVac suction pool cleaner is suitable for inground pools with various finishes, including Concrete, Gunite, Vinyl, Fiberglass, Tile, and Pebble.
  • Ease to Use - Using the water flow from your filtration system, the TracVac attaches to either a dedicated suction port or skimmer and is powered by your pool pump. Its modest size allows it to navigate any pool surface with speed and agility and light-weight construction makes it easy to handle.
  • Powerful Performance - Designed with rugged tracks to effortlessly maneuver over drains, ensuring comprehensive coverage from the floor to the wall and accessing hard-to-reach areas. The use of tracks provides improved operational efficiencies which allows it to overcome obstacles better than standard wheeled options.
  • Rugged tracks - unstoppable coverage from floor to wall
  • Superior mobility - Maneuvers over drains and attacks hard to reach spaces
  • Powerful performance - Eliminates debris and fine particles in less time
  • Tough, yet reliable - long-lasting drive-train allows for limited service
  • Pool Size - Guarantees a thorough cleaning experience for pools up to 6m x 12m

Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn’t my TracVac moving or why is it moving too slowly?
Insufficient water flow is the most common cause. Check the flow using the supplied Flow Gauge and adjust the Flow Regulator Valve until the indicator sits between the minimum and maximum marks. Ensure the pump is fully primed, the filter and baskets are clean, and all suction lines—except the one feeding the cleaner—are closed. Inspect the turbine area for debris and confirm the hose has no air trapped inside.
How do I know if the water flow is set correctly for my TracVac?
Use the Flow Gauge to confirm that the flow sits between the recommended minimum and maximum levels. If the gauge is not available, you can perform an RPM test by lifting the cleaner just under the water surface and counting the right wheel’s rotations. The cleaner should operate between 33 and 40 RPM. Adjust the Flow Regulator Valve as needed.
What should I do if the cleaner keeps staying at one end of the pool?
Check that the hose is long enough to reach the farthest point in the pool and that no loops or coils are restricting movement. Verify correct float placement on the leader hose and ensure the return fittings are not pushing the cleaner off course. Confirm that flow is set correctly and that the swivel on top of the cleaner rotates smoothly.
Why won’t my TracVac climb the pool walls?
The cleaner requires sufficient water flow and adequate track traction to climb. Increase flow slightly if it is below the recommended range. Inspect the tracks for wear and replace them if they have lost grip. Confirm that the leader hose floats are positioned correctly. Note that climbing performance is reduced in pools with a sharp floor-to-wall transition.
Why does my TracVac climb the walls too much or climb out of the pool?
Excessive flow is the usual cause. Reduce suction using the Flow Regulator Valve until the cleaner remains on the pool walls without breaching the surface. Reconfirm flow with the Flow Gauge.
What does it mean if the TracVac keeps getting stuck on the main drain?
Check that the main drain is closed or partially closed to prevent the cleaner from being drawn toward it. Ensure the drain has a compliant grate installed. If necessary, consult a pool technician to correct circulation configuration.
How do I remove debris or a blockage from the turbine?
Turn off the pump, remove the cleaner from the pool, and inspect the turbine through the hose connection point. If the track does not rotate smoothly, open the front buckle, lift off the top cover and turbine cover, and remove any debris from the turbine chamber. Reassemble the cover and ensure the tracks move freely before returning the cleaner to the pool.
Why does my TracVac fall on its side or take a long time to recover?
Incorrect float placement, insufficient hose length, or return jets pushing against the cleaner may cause instability. Adjust the return fittings, verify hose length, and check that the leader hose floats match the recommended spacing.
How should the leader hose floats be positioned for correct operation?
The leader hose is supplied with two floats positioned at specific distances to balance the cleaner. The floats should be kept at their original spacing to ensure correct buoyancy and steering. Incorrect placement can affect coverage, wall climbing and stability.
Why is the hose forming loops, coils, or preventing proper navigation?
Hoses should always be stored straight. Coiled or twisted hoses may retain memory and form loops during operation. Lay the hose in the sun to relax the material, and ensure the swivel assembly is rotating freely. Confirm that the overall hose length is appropriate for your pool shape.
What should I do if the cleaner is turning in circles and won’t go straight?
Circular movement usually indicates worn drive components such as the wheel hub, drive shaft gears, steering slide assembly or left-side drive gear. Inspect these parts and replace them as needed using genuine Hayward components.
Why isn’t the cleaner covering the entire pool?
Confirm that the hose is long enough to reach the pool’s farthest point. Ensure float spacing on the leader hose is correct and that the return jets are not interfering with the cleaner’s direction. Check for reduced water flow caused by a dirty filter or debris within the cleaner.
What happens if my pool has a variable-speed pump—how do I set it up correctly?
Set the flow while the pump is running at its highest programmed speed. Use the Flow Gauge and Flow Regulator Valve to ensure the cleaner operates within the recommended flow range. This prevents lower-speed cycles from exceeding the cleaner’s maximum allowable flow.
Can I use the TracVac while the solar heating system is running?
No. Solar heating must be turned off whenever the cleaner is in use. Both systems should operate on alternating schedules to avoid performance and flow issues.
Why do I need to remove the cleaner before shocking the pool or performing backwash?
High chlorine levels during shocking can damage plastics and rubber components. During backwashing, air may enter the system and cause the cleaner to lose prime or run dry. Removing the cleaner protects the equipment and ensures proper system operation.
How do I know when the tracks or other wearable parts need replacement?
If the cleaner cannot climb walls, struggles to move, loses traction or turns inconsistently, the tracks or internal gears may be worn. Inspect the tracks for smoothing or stretching and check drive components during routine maintenance. Replace worn parts promptly to maintain performance.
