Iluka Descend effectively reduces pH and Total Alkalinity in spa and hot tub water, helping return water balance to the correct level when readings are too high.

High pH and Total Alkalinity can contribute to cloudy water, calcium deposits, scale formation, metal staining and reduced sanitiser performance. Descend helps correct these conditions so your spa water stays properly balanced within the Iluka Sea Minerals routine.

How to Use

Test the spa water to check pH and Total Alkalinity levels.
Calculate the required dose according to your spa volume and test result.
Dissolve the required amount of Iluka Descend in a bucket of water first.
With the pump and filter operating, slowly add the dissolved solution to the spa water.
Circulate the water for 3 hours.
Retest the spa water and repeat only if required.

Dosage & Coverage

Total Alkalinity Dose: Add 24g per 1,000 litres of spa water to lower Total Alkalinity by 10ppm
Frequency: Use when pH or Total Alkalinity testing shows levels need to be reduced

Important Usage Information

Always adjust Total Alkalinity before adjusting pH.
Do not add more than 25g per 1,000 litres of spa water at any one time.
Never allow pH to drop below 7.2.
Do not add near metal fittings.
Dosages are intended as a guide. Always follow the dosage instructions on the product label.
Always add chemicals to water, never water to chemicals.

As part of regular spa care, pH should be maintained between 7.2–7.6 and Total Alkalinity between 125ppm–150ppm.

When should I use this product?

Use it when spa water testing shows that pH or Total Alkalinity is too high. It should only be added when adjustment is needed, not as a routine dose.

Why should Total Alkalinity be adjusted before pH?

Total Alkalinity helps buffer pH. If alkalinity is not corrected first, pH can continue to move up or down, making the water harder to balance accurately.

Should I use Descend or Elevate?

Use Descend when pH or Total Alkalinity is too high. Use Elevate when pH or Total Alkalinity is too low. Always check the water with a suitable test kit before choosing an adjusting aid.

Can I add the granules directly to the spa?
