Iluka Purge is a concentrated internal pipe-work cleaner for spa pools, hot tubs and spa baths. It effectively purges hidden pipe-work and associated systems where calcium, grime, organic build-up and body fats can collect over time.

By cleansing the internal system, Purge helps remove harboured residues, including bio-film, from areas that normal surface cleaning cannot reach. It gives your spa a more thorough system clean as part of periodic water replacement and deep maintenance.

How to Use

For Spa Pools & Hot Tubs:

  1. Remove the filter cartridge from the filter compartment.
  2. Ensure the water level is at least 50mm above the jets.
  3. Turn the spa pool or hot tub on and empty the required dose into the filter compartment.
  4. Run the spa pool or hot tub for a minimum of 2 hours.
  5. Turn the spa pool or hot tub off for 1 hour.
  6. Run the spa pool or hot tub for a further 30 minutes.
  7. Drain the spa pool or hot tub and use a garden hose to wash away any deposits from around the shell and jets.
  8. Refill with fresh water.
  9. Sanitise the spa pool or hot tub with Iluka Purify before bathing.

For Spa Baths:

  1. Fill the spa bath with cold water to 50mm above the jets.
  2. Add the required dose of Iluka Purge.
  3. Run the spa bath for 15 minutes.
  4. Turn off the spa bath and allow the water to stand for 5 minutes.
  5. Run the spa bath for a further 5 minutes.
  6. Drain the spa bath.

Dosage & Coverage

  • Spa Pools & Hot Tubs: Add 250mL per 1,000 litres of water
  • Normal Use: Carry out treatment at least every 12 weeks
  • Heavy Use: Carry out treatment every 6 weeks
  • Normal Domestic Spa Bath: Add 50mL monthly
  • Normal Commercial Spa Bath: Add 50mL weekly

Important Usage Information

  • Use Iluka Purge before draining a spa pool or hot tub to help remove harboured body fats, including bio-film, from the pipe-work.
  • Do not use the spa pool, hot tub or spa bath while the purge treatment is running.
  • Dosages are intended as a guide. Always follow the dosage instructions on the product label.

Why clean spa pipe-work if the water looks clear?

Clear water does not always mean the internal system is clean. Body fats, grime, calcium and bio-film can build up inside hidden pipe-work and associated systems where normal surface cleaning cannot reach.

Why should Purge be used before draining?

Purge works through the existing spa water to loosen and flush residues from the internal pipe-work. After the treatment has run, the spa is drained so the loosened build-up can be removed from the system.

What signs can suggest the pipe-work needs cleaning?

Foaming, dull-looking water, recurring odours, residue around jets or water that becomes difficult to maintain can all suggest build-up inside the system. A pipe-work clean helps remove hidden residues that may be contributing to these issues.

Is Purge the same as a surface cleaner?

No. Purge is used to clean the internal pipe-work and associated systems. It is not a wipe-on surface cleaner, although deposits released during treatment should be rinsed away from around the shell and jets after draining.

Should I clean the filter at the same time?

Yes. The filter cartridge should be removed before treatment, and filter care should be completed as part of the drain-and-clean process. This helps prevent old residue from being carried back into freshly refilled water.
