Lo-Chlor Concentrated Black Spot Algae Killer uses a dual-action formulation that combines an organo copper complex with a quaternary ammonium compound to target stubborn black spot algae at its source.

At the recommended lower pH range, the algae’s waxy protective outer layer is softened, allowing the active ingredients to penetrate more effectively. This helps break down algae cells that cling tightly to pool surfaces and resist standard sanitising treatments.

The result is a more effective curative treatment for black spot algae that has become established or difficult to remove through routine pool maintenance alone.

How to Use

  • Test and balance pool water before treatment.
  • Reduce pH to between 7.0 and 7.2 for best results.
  • Turn off the filter before adding the product.
  • Add the calculated dose evenly around the pool, focusing near affected areas.
  • After 2 hours, resume normal filtration.
  • Brush affected areas to assist algae removal.
  • Backwash or clean the filter as required, as dead algae will collect during treatment.

  • Dosage: 1 litre treats 50,000 litres of pool water.
  • For severe infestations, use in conjunction with Lo-Chlor Black Spot 900 Algaecide where appropriate.

Important Usage & Compatibility Information

  • Suitable for use in pools with recognised sanitising systems, including chlorine and salt chlorinators.
  • Not recommended for use in pools fitted with ionisers or Nature2 systems.
  • Do not superchlorinate for 48 hours before or after using this product.
  • Regular brushing improves effectiveness, especially where algae has previously been present.
  • Foaming or a mild odour may occur during treatment and is a normal temporary effect.
  • In salt chlorinated pools, fine surface bubbles may appear due to a temporary reaction in the chlorinator cell. These bubbles are harmless and typically resolve within 5–7 days, or immediately when the chlorinator is switched off.
  • In some cases, combined chlorine levels may rise temporarily for 2–3 days. If this persists, Lo-Chlor Aqua-Boost may assist.
  • Always test phosphate levels after algae treatment and address if required.
