What’s Included

  • 1 × 25mL Reagent A
  • 2 × 25mL Reagent B
  • 1 × 12mL test vial
  • Step-by-step phosphate testing instructions

How to Test for Phosphates

  1. Fill the 12mL vial with approximately 10mL of pool water
  2. Add 5 drops of Reagent A
  3. Add 5 drops of Reagent B
  4. Shake well
  5. Compare the colour result against the supplied chart

Important Usage Notes

  • All living algae and spores must be eliminated before testing
  • If algae are present, results may read zero as phosphates are consumed by algae
  • Kill algae prior to testing by superchlorination or using an algaecide
  • Store the kit in cool, dry conditions
  • Phosphate test kits have a 6 month shelf life

High Phosphate Testing Tip

If the initial test result is above 1.0 ppm, follow this dilution method for greater accuracy:

  • Fill the vial with approximately 2mL of pool water
  • Top up with approximately 8mL of distilled or spring water
  • Add reagents as per standard instructions
  • Multiply the result by 4 to obtain the true phosphate level

If phosphate levels are above 10 ppm, contact your pool professional for further advice.
