Hose Assembly Becomes Tangled
- Check that the hose is trimmed to the correct length for your pool shape and size.
- With the cleaner running, verify that hose swivels and connectors rotate freely.
- Make sure the hose floats are in place and properly spaced. Position the first float directly against the feed hose connector, then space the remaining floats 30–90 cm apart.
- Check the wheel speed—target is 28–32 RPM. See the user manual (Section 7) for how to adjust it.
- Lay the hose straight in the sun for a few hours to remove any memory or twisting.
Cleaner Gets Stuck on Steps or Obstacles (Over 3 Minutes)
- Confirm wheel speed is 28–32 RPM. Adjust if necessary (see manual Section 7).
- Check and clean the filter canister if full.
- Recheck hose float positions (first at connector, then spaced 30–90 cm apart).
- Adjust the thrust jet direction (see manual Section 8).
- Remove ladders or other hardware, or install a Ladder Guard Kit (Part #W7230412).
- Add a Back-Up Valve (Part #W7230308 white) and position it 1.8–2.4 m away from the cleaner, with a hose float behind it.
Thrust Jet Sprays Water Out of Pool
- Adjust the thrust jet direction and flow settings (see manual Section 8).
- Make sure the hose is not too long for the pool—trim if necessary.
Cleaner is Sluggish or Not Moving
- Verify wheel speed (target 28–32 RPM).
- Clean the filter canister.
- Clean the in-line filter and check the internal screen for debris.
- Clean the skimmer basket, pump basket, and main pool filter.
- Check all hose connections and swivels for leaks that may reduce water pressure.
Cleaner Doesn’t Climb Walls

Yes. Always take the cleaner out when adding large amounts of chemicals like chlorine or acid.
Can I Store the Cleaner in the Sun?
Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight for long periods. Store it in a cool, shaded place when not in use.
How Should I Store the Cleaner for Winter?
Before storing, clean and dry the cleaner thoroughly. Store it indoors or in a dry, sheltered location during the off-season.
How Do I Adjust the Thrust Jet?
The thrust jet controls cleaner direction. The default position is at 3 o’clock.
To adjust:
- Loosen the square nut with a wrench, reposition the jet, and tighten again.
- Turn counter-clockwise to decrease flow and clockwise to increase it. (See manual Section 8 for more details.)
How to Adjust the Wheel Speed (Below or Above 28–32 RPM)
If below 28 RPM:
- Clean the in-line filter screen.
- Clear the skimmer, pump basket, and pool filter.
- Check for hose leaks and worn swivel joints.
- Make sure the flow arrow on the swivel points toward the cleaner.
- Remove the blue restrictor disk from the wall fitting.
If above 32 RPM:
- Replace the blue restrictor disk with a red one.
- Loosen the pressure relief valve until RPM is within target range.
Note! Only adjust the relief valve if a restrictor disk is installed.
Troubleshooting the Back-Up Valve
If you suspect a problem with the back-up valve:
- Cycle Check: Hold it out of the water—it should turn on and off every ~3 minutes. If it stays on constantly or doesn’t activate, it may need replacement.
- Float Positioning: Ensure a hose float is placed directly behind the valve.
- Correct Orientation: The water jet outlet should face the Polaris cleaner—double-check it isn’t installed backward.
