Premium Timber Protection for Sauna Interiors
Sauna timber is exposed to regular heat, moisture and everyday use, which can leave benches and internal panels looking dry, dull or worn over time. Without proper care, timber surfaces may lose some of their natural warmth, grain definition and smooth appearance.
The Finishing Touch Sauna Shield is a premium timber treatment made to condition, preserve and protect sauna timber. Its mineral oil complex is formulated for high-heat environments, helping enhance the natural grain and glow of sauna benches and panels while supporting long-term timber care.
Features & Benefits
- Moisture Protection: Helps form a protective barrier against moisture, heat and regular sauna wear.
- Conditions and Preserves: Helps nourish sauna timber so benches and panels look better maintained over time.
- Enhances Natural Grain: Enriches the natural tone, grain and glow of sauna timber for a warmer, more polished finish.
- Helps Prevent Dryness and Cracking: Supports timber surfaces exposed to repeated heat, helping reduce dryness, splitting and cracking over time.
- High-Heat Formula: Formulated for high-heat environments, including traditional and infrared saunas.
- Mineral Oil Complex: Uses a colourless mineral oil complex to support timber care without changing the natural character of the wood.
- Fragrance-Free and Solvent-Free: Made without fragrance, solvents or toxins for practical use in sauna environments.
- Easy Spray Application: Trigger spray format helps provide easy, even coverage across sauna timber surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I apply Sauna Shield in a personal sauna?
For a personal sauna, apply Sauna Shield when the timber starts to look dull, or every 3 to 6 months as part of regular timber protection. Usage frequency, heat exposure and how many people use the sauna will affect how often it needs to be reapplied.
How often should I apply Sauna Shield in a commercial sauna?
Commercial saunas usually need more frequent timber care. Depending on usage, Sauna Shield may be applied every 1 to 3 months, or when the timber starts to look dull and begins absorbing sweat or water more easily.
Should I apply Sauna Shield to a new sauna before using it?
Yes. For a new sauna installation, clean the timber first with Sauna Shine, allow the wood to dry, then apply Sauna Shield to help protect the timber from first use.
How long should I wait before using the sauna after applying Sauna Shield?
Apply Sauna Shield, allow it to absorb into the timber, wipe off any excess, then wait 30 to 60 minutes until the wood is dry before using the sauna.
Can I apply Sauna Shield too often?
Yes. Sauna Shield should absorb into the wood. Over-application may leave the surface feeling greasy or uneven, so it should not be used as a weekly cleaner.
Can I use Sauna Shield in an infrared sauna?
Yes. Sauna Shield is suitable for both traditional and infrared saunas.
Can I spray Sauna Shield on heated surfaces?
No. Apply Sauna Shield only to suitable timber surfaces. Avoid spraying heater elements, electrical components or non-timber surfaces, and make sure the sauna is switched off before application.
Should I use Sauna Shield or Sauna Shine?
Use Sauna Shine for regular cleaning and disinfecting of sauna surfaces. Use Sauna Shield for longer-term timber conditioning and protection after the timber has been cleaned and allowed to dry.
