Controlled Chlorine Reduction for Pools and Spas
Zodiac Chlorine Remover is a granular chlorine neutraliser designed to lower or eliminate excessive chlorine levels in swimming pools and spas.
Its concentrated sodium-thiosulphate formula is useful after overchlorination or shock treatment, and when chlorine needs to be reduced before beginning a metal-stain treatment.
Features & Benefits
- Controlled chlorine reduction: Lowers or eliminates excessive free chlorine following overdosing or shock treatment.
- Removes chloramines: Can reduce combined chlorine as well as free chlorine.
- Concentrated granular formula: Contains 985g/kg sodium thiosulphate for effective chlorine neutralisation.
- Suitable for pools and spas: Designed for dechlorination of both pool and spa water.

Dosage & Coverage
- Dosage: Add 10g per 10,000 litres of water to reduce free chlorine by 1ppm.
Important Usage Information
- Begin with less product than the full calculated dose and re-test the chlorine level before adding more.
- Do not overdose. Excess Chlorine Remover may make it difficult to restore a chlorine residual after treatment.
- Before a metal-stain treatment, lower free chlorine to below 1ppm where practical.
- Do not mix directly with chlorine or other pool chemicals. Add each product separately.
After treatment, re-test the water and restore the required sanitiser level before the pool or spa is used.
A Better Pool Experience Starts with the Right Chemistry
Zodiac pool chemicals support the key parts of everyday water care, from balance and sanitising to algae prevention, clarity, stain control and equipment protection.
Each product has a clear role in helping pool water stay cleaner, more comfortable and easier to manage, so the pool feels ready to enjoy more often.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Zodiac Chlorine Remover remove chlorine completely?
Yes. The product can lower or eliminate chlorine from pool or spa water. For normal operation, the aim is usually to bring free chlorine back within the required sanitiser range rather than remove it completely.
Why can excessive chlorine be a problem?
Very high chlorine levels can cause bather discomfort and may have a bleaching or corrosive effect on pool surfaces and equipment. Reducing the level helps return the water to the appropriate operating range.
What is the difference between high free chlorine and chloramines?
Free chlorine is the active sanitiser available in the water. Chloramines are combined chlorine compounds formed after chlorine reacts with contaminants. Zodiac Chlorine Remover can lower excessive free chlorine and can also remove chloramines.
What chlorine level should be reached after treatment?
For standard swimming-pool operation, free chlorine should generally be returned to 2–4ppm. When preparing for a metal-stain treatment, reduce free chlorine to below 1ppm where practical.
Why is chlorine lowered before a metal-stain treatment?
High chlorine can oxidise dissolved metals and make metal-based staining more difficult to treat. Lowering the chlorine level helps prepare the water for stain removal.
