Zodiac Filter Cleaner is a concentrated alkaline-salt powder designed to chemically clean cartridge, sand, glass and D.E. pool and spa filters. It breaks down oils, scale, metals and stubborn debris that can become trapped within cartridge folds or filter media.

Routine hosing and backwashing remove loose or visible dirt, but internal buildup can remain and restrict water flow. By loosening these deeper contaminants, Zodiac Filter Cleaner helps improve filtration efficiency, support clearer water and reduce unnecessary strain on the circulation system.

How to Use

Cartridge Filters

1. Turn off the filtration system, remove the cartridge and rinse away loose dirt with clean water.
2. Dilute 500g of Zodiac Filter Cleaner in 10 litres of water using a suitable plastic container.
3. Place the cartridge in the diluted solution.
4. For best results, allow the cartridge to soak for 24 hours.
5. Remove the cartridge and rinse it thoroughly before reinstalling it.

Sand and Glass Media Filters

1. Dilute 500g of Zodiac Filter Cleaner in 10 litres of water.
2. Add the diluted solution slowly through the skimmer with the pump running.
3. Let the pump run only long enough, approximately 5–15 seconds, to draw the solution into the filter, then turn the pump off immediately.
4. Allow the filter media to soak for 24 hours for best results.
5. Clearly mark the multi-port valve or controls so the system is not accidentally restarted during the soaking period.
6. Backwash thoroughly until the discharged water runs clear, then rinse and return the system to normal filtration.

Important Usage Information

A chemical filter clean is recommended approximately every 6 months, or more frequently during periods of heavy pool use, reduced filter performance or after major water treatments.
