Industrial-Strength Flocculation for Major Pool Clean-Ups

Zodiac Granular Flocculant is an aluminium sulphate treatment for very cloudy or exceptionally murky pool water. It is suited to major clean-up situations where large amounts of fine debris remain suspended after algae treatment, storms or garden runoff.

Once dissolved, the granular formula brings suspended material together into heavier flocs that settle onto the pool floor for removal through the waste line.

How to Use

Adjust the pool pH to approximately 8.0–8.5, with 8.2 as the recommended target.
Set the filtration system to Recirculate. For cartridge-filter systems, remove the cartridge element before operating the pump.
Measure the required dose and dissolve the granules thoroughly in a clean bucket of pool water.
Apply the dissolved treatment evenly around the edges of the pool.
Run the pump on Recirculate for approximately 1–2 hours.
Turn the pump off and leave the pool undisturbed for 12–24 hours while the debris settles.
Vacuum the settled material slowly to waste.
Return the system to normal filtration, restore the water level if required and rebalance the pool water.

Dosage: Add 400g per 10,000 litres of pool water.

Important Usage Information

Granular Flocculant generally performs more effectively in warmer pool water.
Use a clarifier rather than flocculant for light haze or routine sparkle maintenance.
In extreme cases, complete the full settling and vacuuming process before applying a second treatment.
Do not mix directly with other pool chemicals. Add each product separately.

After treatment, return pH to 7.2–7.6 and ensure the sanitiser level is within the normal operating range before swimming.

Can Zodiac Granular Flocculant be used with a cartridge filter?

It may be used only when the cartridge element can be removed and the system is suitably configured for circulation and vacuuming to waste. Flocculant should not pass through the cartridge element because it may cause clogging.

What should I do if one treatment does not fully clear the pool?

Complete the settling and vacuuming process first. In extreme cases, a second treatment may then be required.
