Fast-Dissolving Chlorine for Daily Pool Treatment
Zodiac Non-Stabilised Pool Chlorine is a fast-dissolving calcium hypochlorite sanitiser for swimming pools. It helps control bacteria, viruses and algae, supporting cleaner pool water through daily chlorine treatment.
As a non-stabilised chlorine, it is useful for pools where extra cyanuric acid is not needed. The highly soluble, low-residue Cal Hypo formula is ideal for daily treatment and is especially useful for indoor pools or pools where stabiliser levels are already suitable.
Features & Benefits
- Controls bacteria, viruses and algae: Helps maintain sanitised swimming pool water for regular pool use.
- Fast-dissolving Cal Hypo: Dissolves quickly for daily chlorine treatment.
- Non-stabilised chlorine: Adds chlorine without increasing cyanuric acid levels.
- Highly soluble, low-residue formula: Supports convenient dosing with reduced residue.
- Suitable for different pool setups: Can be used in stabilised or unstabilised pools, with dosage adjusted by pool type.

How to Use
- Test pool water before dosing.
- Dissolve the required dose in a bucket of water.
- Add the solution to the pool and run normal circulation.
Dosage & Coverage
- Stabilised pools daily dosage: 40g per 10,000 litres.
- Unstabilised pools daily dosage: 80g per 10,000 litres.
Important Usage Information
- Always test pool water before dosing and follow the product label directions.
- Cal Hypo has a high pH of 10-12, so pH and Total Alkalinity should be tested regularly during use.
- This product contains calcium and may raise calcium hardness. Temporary cloudiness may occur and usually clears with filtration.
- Do not mix with other chlorines or pool chemicals.
Recommended pool levels: free chlorine 2-4ppm, combined chlorine less than 0.2ppm, pH 7.2-7.8, and cyanuric acid 10-50ppm. For indoor pools or ORP/probe systems, cyanuric acid should be kept low.
Maintain Total Alkalinity at 80-120ppm for fully tiled, pebble and plaster pools, or 125-150ppm for vinyl and fibreglass pools. Monitor Calcium Hardness, as Cal Hypo can increase calcium levels; ideal ranges are generally 200-300ppm for most pools, or 150-250ppm for fibreglass pools.
This product is classified as Dangerous Goods. It is an oxidising solid, so keep away from heat, ignition sources, acids, combustible materials and other pool chemicals.
A Better Pool Experience Starts with the Right Chemistry
Zodiac pool chemicals support the key parts of everyday water care, from balance and sanitising to algae prevention, clarity, stain control and equipment protection.
Each product has a clear role in helping pool water stay cleaner, more comfortable and easier to manage, so the pool feels ready to enjoy more often.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is non-stabilised chlorine a good choice?
Non-stabilised chlorine is useful when the pool needs chlorine without adding more cyanuric acid. It can be a practical choice for indoor pools or outdoor pools where stabiliser levels are already suitable.
Can Pool Chlorine be used in stabilised pools?
Yes. Pool Chlorine can be used in stabilised pools and unstabilised pools. Stabilised pools use a lower daily dose because cyanuric acid helps chlorine last longer in sunlight.
Why should Pool Chlorine be dissolved in a bucket first?
Calcium hypochlorite is a strong chlorine product. Pre-dissolving helps the chlorine spread more evenly through the pool and reduces the chance of concentrated granules settling on the pool surface. Always add chlorine to water, not water to chlorine.
Will Pool Chlorine increase calcium hardness?
Yes. Calcium hypochlorite contains calcium, so regular use can increase calcium hardness over time. It may also cause temporary cloudiness, which usually clears after the pool has circulated and filtered.
Can Pool Chlorine be mixed with other chlorine products?
No. Calcium hypochlorite should not be mixed with other chlorines or pool chemicals. It is highly reactive with incompatible chemicals and can create heat, chlorine gas or fire risk.
