How is Pool Acid different from pH Down dry acid?
Zodiac Liquid Pool Acid uses hydrochloric acid, while Zodiac pH Down uses sodium bisulphate dry acid. Pool Acid is a fast-acting liquid acid with no granular residue, but it is corrosive, gives off fumes and needs stricter handling. pH Down dry acid is usually easier to measure, store and handle, with no liquid acid fumes.
Why does high pH need correcting?
High pH can reduce chlorine effectiveness and make pool water harder to manage. It can also contribute to cloudy water and scale-forming conditions if left uncorrected.
Can Pool Acid reduce Total Alkalinity as well as pH?
Yes. Liquid Pool Acid reduces pH and can also lower Total Alkalinity. This is useful where Total Alkalinity is high and causing pH to keep rising.
Why should Pool Acid be added slowly?
