How It Works

AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer increases total alkalinity and pH in spa and hot tub water using sodium bicarbonate. In the AquaSpa system, total alkalinity acts as a buffer, helping hold the water in a more stable range and reducing the sharp pH movement that can happen when alkalinity is too low.

When buffering is insufficient, pH can fluctuate more easily and the water may become harder to manage. Low alkalinity can also contribute to equipment corrosion, etching of some spa surfaces, and a less comfortable bathing environment. AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer is used to restore that buffering support so the water remains steadier and easier to balance as part of the wider AquaSpa system.

How to Use

  1. Test the spa water before dosing.
  2. Calculate the correct spa volume.
  3. Ensure the filtration pump is running.
  4. Add AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer to the spa water at the required dose.
  5. Leave the cover off for at least 30 minutes after dosing.
  6. Retest the water before making further adjustments.

Dosage & Coverage

  • Dosage: To raise total alkalinity by 10ppm, add 18g per 1,000 litres

Important Usage Information

  • Use AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer only when testing shows total alkalinity and/or pH need to be raised.
  • Always adjust total alkalinity before adjusting pH.
  • Do not add more than 40g per 1,000 litres at any one time.
  • Add chemicals to water and never water to chemicals, and do not overdose.
  • If adding other AquaSpa products, allow 30-minute intervals between each chemical addition.

For AquaSpa systems, pH is generally maintained at 7.2–7.6 and total alkalinity at 125–150ppm. AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer is part of overall water balance management and does not replace sanitising, shock treatment, filtration care, or other balancing steps where required.
