AstralPool Viron eQuilibrium Salt Chlorinator – Manual & Video Tutorial
Learn how to set up, maintain, and maximise the performance of your AstralPool Viron eQuilibrium Chlorinator with this step-by-step video tutorial guide. These videos cover essential functions, advanced features, and best practices to ensure long-lasting, hassle-free operation.
1. Chlorinator Set Up – Install Menu
Initial setup for equipment such as variable speed pumps must be performed using the chlorinator’s screen and buttons. After this, most functions can be managed through the controller or the ChlorinatorGO app.
- Maintenance: Setup and advanced functions
- Setting: Chlorine and pH levels
- Clock & Timer: Schedule chlorine production and filtration
- Pool & Spa Mode: Mode selection for targeted sanitising

2. Setting the Clock
To ensure timers run correctly, set the internal 24-hour clock first.

3. Setting the Timers for Ai Mode
AI Mode needs a single extended run-time to allow smart chlorination. Without Ai Mode, use two timers (morning/evening) instead.

4. Setting pH & Chlorine Levels
If pH and ORP sensors are connected, set points for automatic dosing can be adjusted. If not, use manual control for chlorine output and acid dosing.

ORP & Cyanuric Acid
When using a chlorine (ORP) sensor, keep Cyanuric Acid (CYA) levels below 30 ppm for best results. Excess CYA lowers ORP efficiency and can cause the system to overproduce chlorine.
Recommended ORP setpoints by CYA level:
Cyanuric Acid Level | Chlorine Level | ||
---|---|---|---|
2 ppm | 3 ppm | 4 ppm | |
0 | 700 mv | 725 mv | 750 mv |
10 | 550 mv | 600 mv | 625 mv |
20 | 500 mv | 525 mv | 550 mv |
>50 | 350 mv | 400 mv | 450 mv |
5. Probe Maintenance and Calibration
Clean and calibrate sensors regularly for reliable performance. Use a gentle abrasive like Jif for cleaning. pH sensors should be recalibrated every 6–12 months using a standard solution.

8. Regular Scheduled Maintenance
Frequency | Maintenance Task |
---|---|
Weekly | Check and top up acid drum |
Monthly | Manual test of pH, chlorine, TA, CYA, calcium; adjust eQ setpoints |
Every 3 months | Spray insect repellent around unit to prevent ant ingress |
Every 6 months | Clean and calibrate probes; inspect and lubricate acid squeeze tube |
