Why is my cleaner not moving or moving very slowly?
If your cleaner is sluggish or stationary, try the following:
- Use the Pool Pulse flow gauge to check for correct suction.
- Ensure the main drain is closed to avoid flow interference.
- Inspect the diaphragm for blockages, damage, or wear.
- Backwash the filter and empty the pump and skimmer baskets.
- Check for air in the system – if you see bubbles in the pump basket or from the return jets, or if the water level drops in the pump basket, inspect all hose connections, tighten fittings, and check the pump basket o-ring for wear.
Why is the cleaner following a pattern or not covering the entire pool?
This may be caused by excessive flow or hose issues. To correct:
- Use the Pool Pulse to verify and reduce the flow if the cleaner is staying on walls.
- Point return jets downward to prevent water flow from steering the cleaner. Add a return diverter if needed.
- Ensure the hose is not coiled or kinked – lay it in the sun to straighten if necessary.
- Confirm the hose weight is correctly placed 1 metre from the cleaner.
- Check that the engine assembly spins freely inside the cleaner.
- Make sure the hose length is correct based on pool size and installation guidelines.
