Pool Covers / Solar Blanket FAQ
How to measure your pool
Measure the width and the length of your pool as indicated below.
- Measure the widest and the longest points
- Measure only the area covered by the water

Note: your cover will be supplied with some extra material around the edges necessary for fitting purposes (typically 10-20cm).
Which pool cover to chose?
There are three factors you should consider:
- Durability: Dictated by the thickness of the material, which is measured in microns. The higher the micron rating, the longer the cover will last. Higher micron rated covers come with longer warranty.
- Heating: Translucent pool covers heat up the pool water as they absorb the heat from the sun, while opaque ones don't. For warmer climates like WA, NT and some areas of northern QLD you may want to chose a non heating cover.
- Handling: Reels will make the job of fitting and removing the cover in your pool much easier and convenient.

How to install your pool cover
- Lay the cover: Spread the cover over the pool bubble side down.
- Rest: Let the cover "rest" under the sun for a few hours.
- Flatten: Smooth the cover out, over the pool surface, getting rid of wrinkles and air pockets (Smoothing it with a pool broom often helps).
- Trim: Trim to shape with a pair of sharp scissors
- When you come to the skimmer box, cut a 'flap' to sit inside the box
- Cut the blanket a little larger (10-15cm), so that it 'turns up' at the edges, creating a bowl effect. This way, leaves or debris will sit on top of the cover, rather than falling into the water
(When you order a cover, it is supplied with extra material to accommodate for this)
- Adjust: Adjust your chlorinator to avoid overchlorination. Your pool cover will reduce chemical usage by about half.
Note: For more detailed instructions click here
IMPORTANT: Adjust your chlorinator settings immediately!
Your new pool cover will cut chemical usage by around 50% and it is highly recommend to turn automatic chlorinators down to half their previous setting. Otherwise overchlorination will damage the cover and affect the pool and its equipment. Check pool chemical levels and continue to adjust daily until the appropriate levels are reached.
