Preparing the Pool for Summer
- Remove the pool cover and clear away leaves, dirt and debris.
- Refill the pool to the correct operating level and inspect the filtration and circulation equipment.
- Clean the filter using Zodiac Filter Cleaner according to the filter type and product-label directions.
- Test the water and correct the required balance and sanitiser levels before adding further treatments.
- Use Phosphate Remover and Long Life Algaecide according to current water conditions and their individual labels.
- Apply Pool Sparkle Sanitiser Chlorine and OxyFresh separately as required for sanitising and oxidation support.
- Use the Sparkle Clarifier Tablet only with a compatible sand or glass-media filter.
- Continue filtration and retest the water before swimming.
Important Usage Information
- Each chemical in the pack is a separate treatment. Never mix pool chemicals together and follow each individual product label.
- Test the water before dosing. The included test strips measure free chlorine or bromine, pH and Total Alkalinity, but do not measure phosphates, cyanuric acid, calcium hardness or metals.
- OxyFresh can produce a false high total-chlorine reading for up to 48 hours after application.
- Pool Sparkle Sanitiser Chlorine is stabilised chlorine and contributes cyanuric acid to the water.
- Use the Sparkle Clarifier Tablet only with sand or glass-media filtration. It is not suitable for cartridge filters.
- Filter Cleaner must be used according to the specific cartridge, sand, glass or D.E. filter instructions and thoroughly rinsed or backwashed before normal filtration resumes.
OxyFresh is classified as Dangerous Goods and must be handled according to its label and safety directions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the pack include everything needed to balance pool water?
No. The included test strips provide a basic check of free chlorine or bromine, pH and Total Alkalinity, but the pack does not include dedicated pH or alkalinity adjusters. Additional balancing products may be required after testing.
Why are both algaecide and phosphate remover included?
Long Life Algaecide acts directly against algae, while Phosphate Remover lowers an important nutrient that can support algae growth. They perform different but complementary roles in seasonal pool preparation.
Why should the filter be chemically cleaned when opening the pool?
Oils, scale, metals and other contaminants can remain inside cartridges or filter media even after normal rinsing or backwashing. Chemical cleaning helps remove this deeper buildup and supports stronger water flow and filtration efficiency.
What is the difference between Pool Sparkle Sanitiser Chlorine and OxyFresh?
Pool Sparkle Sanitiser Chlorine provides stabilised chlorine for sanitising the pool. OxyFresh is a non-chlorine oxidiser that helps break down organic contaminants and reduce chlorine odours without increasing free chlorine.
Can I use the Sparkle Clarifier Tablet with a cartridge filter?
No. The Sparkle Clarifier Tablet is intended for sand or glass-media filters and should not be used with cartridge filtration.
