Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the vacuum stop suddenly during cleaning?
This usually happens when the battery is low or the filter basket is full. The Pilot H2 will also shut down automatically if it is taken out of the water while running, as the motor is water-cooled.
Why is the suction weak even though the battery is charged?
Weak suction is almost always caused by a clogged filter basket or debris caught around the brushes or intake. Rinsing the filter and removing any trapped material restores full suction.
How often should I clean or rinse the filter basket?
Rinse the basket after every use, and clean it immediately if you notice a drop in suction. Fine debris, sand, or leaves can quickly block the mesh and restrict water flow.
Why does the Pilot H2 not turn on when I press the button?
The vacuum may be fully discharged, powered off from overheating, or outside the safe operating range. Charge the unit, ensure the button is held for two seconds, and check that water chemistry and temperature are within the recommended limits.
Can I operate the Pilot H2 outside of the water to test suction?
No. The Pilot H2 should never run outside of the water. The motor relies on water for cooling and will automatically shut down if left dry.
Why does water keep draining from the device when I lift it out of the pool?
The unit has a quick water-release system that empties the internal chamber within seconds. This is normal and helps make the vacuum lighter and easier to handle.
How do I know when the Pilot H2 is fully charged?
The LED indicator will turn solid green when the battery is fully charged. Charging only occurs when the vacuum is powered off.
Why won’t the unit charge when placed on the dock?
The charging pins may be wet, dirty, or misaligned. Wipe the contacts, ensure the vacuum is properly seated in the dock grooves, and confirm that the charger is securely plugged in.
Can I leave the Pilot H2 on the charging dock when not in use?
Yes, the charging dock is designed for both charging and storage. Just make sure the unit is dry and powered off before placing it on the dock.
Why is the LED white/battery light blinking alternately during charging?
Alternating white and battery LEDs indicate that the unit is actively charging. The lights will stop blinking once the battery is full.
Why does the Pilot H2 make a low humming noise during operation?
A soft hum is normal. It is the sound of the motor and water flow through the filtration chamber. The noise level stays low for quiet operation.
Can I use the Pilot H2 in a hot tub or spa at higher temperatures?
You can use it in spas or hot tubs as long as the water temperature is within 10–35°C. Higher temperatures can damage the battery and motor.
Is it safe to use the unit with high chlorine or salt levels?
The vacuum can operate safely up to 4 ppm chlorine and 5000 ppm salt. Higher levels may cause premature wear on internal seals and components.
What should I do if the device doesn’t start cleaning after being placed in water?
Make sure it was submerged within 30 seconds of power-on. If it missed this window, it will shut down automatically, so turn it off and restart. Also check that the filter basket is properly installed.
Why can’t I switch between Standard Mode and Power Mode?
The button must be pressed briefly while the unit is running to change modes. If the battery is very low or the device is out of the water, mode changes will not occur.
How should I store the unit long-term?
Rinse and dry all parts, empty the filter basket, and store the vacuum in a cool, dry place. Avoid areas with direct sunlight or freezing temperatures. Do not store it wet or with debris inside.
Can I run the unit continuously in Power Mode?
Yes, but battery life will shorten to approximately 45 minutes. If you need longer sessions, start in Power Mode for heavy debris, then switch to Standard Mode for lighter cleaning.
Why does the Pilot H2 feel warm after charging?
A slight warmth is normal during and after charging due to battery activity. If it feels unusually hot, unplug it and check for blocked vents or damaged charging contacts.
Can I vacuum fine dust like algae or silt?
Yes, but fine particles can fill the mesh quickly and reduce suction. For best results, clean the filter basket more frequently during fine-dust cleaning sessions.
